A Middle’terranean is a new concept in the Mediterranean food market. The owner, Johnny Baransi, moved to the U.S. from Nazareth, Israel, 15 years ago and has managed and owned several restaurants around Columbus, OH. 

Johnny has come up with the idea of ‘Middle’terranean’, taking food from his home country of Israel, which is on the Mediterranean Sea but considered to be in the Middle East and blending it with traditional Mediterranean food. Then, he has added a twist, by making it a quick-serve style with customizable food; you order what you want, how you want it, all at an affordable price. All this is served up in a comfortably modern dining atmosphere, not the typical Mediterranean themed dining room.

The namesake, Mezze, means small plates from many countries all along the Mediterranean Sea. The menu has many Mezze options, with Hummus, an Israeli favorite, and Tzatziki, a Greek tradition, being at the forefront. Of course there are Gyros, but at Mezze you can order it as a sandwich, in a bowl, on a salad or over a plate of hummus. There are other protein options available, including falafel for our vegetarian friends. For the health conscious, there are 3 delicious salad options to choose from. Don’t worry the baklava and Arabic coffee has not been forgotten.
